Happy Birthday!

It's the festival of Jack today, tomorrow and Sunday!  He's loving it!  Happy Birthday buddy!  I love you!

UFO?

No it's not a UFO.  It's the baby moinitor next to my bed, all lit up because Lachlan is crying.  He is quiet now, but I'm awake, just making sure that he falls back to sleep, before I relax and do the same.

If I could turn back time

This morning I told Jack that we were running late and showed him on the clock that we only had 15 minutes before we had to leave. So he took matters into his own hands and turned back the hands of the clock so we wouldn't be late anymore!

Bridesmaid dress fitting

I was on punt road when I realised I'd left my shoes at home!  Argh!!  So back home I drove and an hour later I was trying on the bridesmaid dress for Alice's wedding.  Of course I can't show you any photos of the dress here... yet!  After the fitting Lachlan and I agreed we needed a treat from the Lindt shop.

Treasure time

For treasure time at kinder (Show & Tell), Jack decided to bring two MacDonald toys, an old hat and a broken doll.  Other kids brought, a glass holographic tinker bell ornament, a miniature working tool set and a remote controlled truck.  Good thing I'm not worried about what the other parents think of me!

High Tea

I feel like the celebrations have begun now that the High Tea for Alice's wedding has happened.  It was elegant, it was decadent, it was delicious!

I was a little tired after three hours of face painting at the Kinder Open Day, but the reward of a glass of French champagne on arrival kept me going!

Lachlan walking

New career?

I don't think I'll get much work as a face painter, but I have volunteered to be the official face painter at the Kinder Open Day this Sunday.  What was I thinking?  What were they thinking?

Musical talent

While at work yesterday I received this photo from Dad. Dad likes to teach the kids how to play 'Silent Night' on the piano.

Plays hard

No joke, he is fast asleep on the couch!  I love it that he plays so hard at kinder that he is this tired at the end of the day!

Dressed himself

On Sunday morning Jack dressed himself for the first time!  Yep, another step closer to becoming a BIG boy!  Mind you his polo shirt was on back-to-front and the vest was in-side-out but I think it's a great effort.  Probably not the outfit I was thinking for church, especially the gumboots, but who I am to squash enthusiasm?

(Sorry the photo is a bit blurry.)

My project (part 4)

The finished product!  Can you tell it's a kinder day at my place and Lachlan is asleep?!

Leigh helped me screw the hinges back on and attach the new handles.  I'm pretty happy with the end result.  There's a few bumps, scratches and dribbles of paint, but overall it's a huge improvement and brings a homely feel to the room.

You can see the progression of my project from here, to here, through to here.

On the way to kinder

Both boys fascinated by the digger this morning.  We had to stop and look.

Boxers

Wearing Daddy's Boxers.
Have I told you that he is walking now?  I've tried to get video footage but I don't know how to upload it to the blog.

Mothers Day

Jack came bouncing into our room this morning wishing me a 'Happy  Mothers day Mum!"  He and Lachlan bought me some lovely comfy track pants and the warmest pair of bed socks you'll ever see!

Gift giving was followed by breakfast in bed.  Had this photo not been blurry, it would not have appeared on the blog, but Jack is yet to master photography at this stage.

Later, I remembered the secured envelope Jack brought home from Kinder and asked him if it was for me.  Inside I found this interesting card.  I'm not sure if I can say that it's the thought that counts, because I don't really know what he was thinking.  But, I love it anyway!

This is the picture of me that Jack drew on the front of the card.  Yes, it may be that I am depicted with a hump on my back, that I'm still carrying a bit of baby weight, my hair is falling out and that I have six spindly little legs, but I have a lovely smile and well groomed eye brows!

And this is me now, curled up on the couch in my new trackies, socks and showing off my new jewelery made by Jack!  I want to wear this bracelet every day I think it's gorgeous!

My project (part 3)

Purchasing paint today. It's a family affair.

Reach for the stars

Lately in the car Jack had been telling me that he wanted to touch the stars.  I was a little confused, as he would then try to give me directions to the place where he could touch the star.  I told him he'd have to be an astronaut when he grows up.  But then, some how, after a few days of this request I worked out what he meant. The top of electricity poles, like this one pictured in the background, look like stars! Ahh, the world is seen differently when you don't really know what you are looking at or looking for, in my case!

Rapid observation deck

It was a lovely day to go for a walk (or bike ride) in the park today.  Times like these I count my blessings as a  stay at home mum.  I was able to talk to Jack about the rapids in the river and we saw a 'mob' of Kangaroos!

Reading list

I have some reading ahead of me... looks a little heavy going.  I'm putting together a new subject at work on identity. If you have any suggestions let me know, I'd love to hear your ideas.

My project (part 2)

Jack helped me paint the under coat this morning. He did a very good job and didn't get much paint on himself, surprisingly.  Which makes me wonder how he manages to get so much paint on himself at kinder?

Green thumb

Jack grew this grass at kinder and he is very proud of it!  However, he is getting sick of me taking photos of him every day for my blog so he wouldn't show his face.

We are going to plant this grass in our garden next to the stuff the council laid.  There's still a few bare patches so this will do nicely!

Equal treatment

I admit it, I have been treating the boys differently.  Only in respect of their ages though.  Jack obviously can do more for himself than Lachlan.  So for example, when Jack has a frozen yoghurt ice cream for desert, I'll be serving and feeding Lachlan a bowl of yoghurt. It's just a case of trying to minimise and manage the mess created by food and drink.

But Lachlan has started eyeing off the things that Jack gets.  The other day, Jack was having a 'pink milk' (i.e. Strawberry Quik)Lachlan went to the draw in the kitchen and got himself a straw and started following Jack so he could have some 'pink milk' too.

So you will note just how happy Lachlan is in this photo.  He has his own special milk drink and his own straw, just like his big brother Jack.
