A weekend walk

Shopping adventures

This shopping trolley is twice as long as your standard trolley, so about twice as difficult to handle, but well worth it entertainment wise!

Laundry excitement

Perhaps this is domestic bliss?  My dryer made it up onto the wall this weekend!  Hooray!!!  Thanks to Leigh who went to Bunnings and bought the extra bits and pieces and then hung it!  I'm so excited about my extra bench space and I don't even mind that I have to climb the step ladder to reach the clothes dryer! ;)

Care free

For better or for worse I have come to an age (or perhaps its just a stage in life) where I really don't care what strangers think of me.  For this reason, I feel very comfortable to go grocery shopping in dirty track pants, an old t-shirt and with wild unbrushed hair.  Yesterday, as I waltzed around the shopping centre (that Leigh and I have dubbed 'dodgey Coles'), I even thought I should have worn my old moccasins to finish off the outfit.  I think that really would have made a statement.

I have to admit there was a moment when I wondered if it would matter if I bumped into someone I knew.  But I didn't think about it for very long, so it probably doesn't matter... do you think that's a problem?

Anyway, the worst thing happened as I waltzed around the shops in my dirty track pants, old t-shirt and wild unbrushed hair.  My beautiful, red vinyl shopping trolley lost it's wheel! Devastated!

Blast off!

I spent ages getting this sticker on the wall in Jack's bedroom yesterday.  I'm pleased with the results.  There's even a few stars on the roof!

That's when good Neighbours...

I'll have save a piece for my next door neigbour who let me use her oven today.  She even called me when it was ready to pick up!  "Everybody needs good Neighbours!"

Love the Kookaburras and their boldness this time of year.

Piano lessons

Tram ride

Back at the traffic school this morning.  Lachlan preferred everything other than the bike that I carried (along with the helmet, picnic rug, food, two drink bottles and thermos... yes I carried this all by myself!)  He even preferred bikes that looked exactly the same as his, except belonged to other children!

Breath

This morning I woke to the good news of a friend giving birth to a beautiful baby girl!  Beautiful, long awaited news!  Everyone is happy and well!  It's such a special time!

Later this afternoon I received a phone call from another friend telling me of the passing of a mutual friend we used to work with.  I am still in shock.  I had no idea she had been sick.  I saw her only recently, full of life, happy, her usual lovely self.

Life and death are just a breath apart.  I am reminded to love my family and friends, enjoy the little moments and not put off important things.

Brave little knight

Jack had his 4 year old immunisation today. I was nervous about it.  I really wasn't sure how he'd react .  In my mind I was remembering the time he cut his chin open while we were on holidays and he needed stitches.  It was horrendous and the doctor was atrocious!  Jack had also witnessed Lachlan's immunisation and since then had been protective of Lachlan when ever we have visited the doctor.  "Don't put holes in his arms.", he would tell the doctor.

Anyway, I waited until this morning to tell Jack the reason for the trip to the doctor.  He seemed fine with it.  He asked me why he needed the injection and I told him it was so he wouldn't get sick.  In the car he must have been getting nervous as he reasoned, "The doctor can make my cold better without an injection. I don't need an injection."  So I explained that the injection didn't help colds, but will stop him from getting dangerous sicknesses.  He accepted my response.  I was glad.

In the waiting room we watched Peter Pan youtube clips on my iphone to distract us and pass the time.  When it was our turn, Jack calmly sat on my lap and even giggled when the injection went in.  He was not worried at all by the fact he needed one in each arm!  What a trooper!  My brave little knight!

Choose your own adventure!

Still catching up with normal life, so here's a few snap shots of what's been keeping me busy.  I'll fill in the gaps a little bit but the most creative commentary on these pictures will win a mini chupa chup - a very valuable currency in this household!

The kids found the last Easter egg!

He doesn't like plates.

Drinking 35 year old tea at a tree stump in Chapel street.  Had to share it with a frog god that use to steal crops from farmers and now they feed tea to it so as to bring good luck.  It really doesn't make sense to me.

Caught the train and the tram in to the city to visit Daddy at work and see the Aquarium.

Lachlan is ready for kinder at 16mths!
